Who is the boss at home?

Broome Advertiser - - News - Fabian Ross

In this day and age, we’re confronted with the challenges of modern living, relationships, kids, mortgages, cars, credit cards, savings, life. Not to mention superannuation and insurance. But who makes these types of decisions in your house? You? Your partner? Or is it a team effort?

Last year, WA Super partnered with The West

Australian surveying more than 5000 retirees. The survey provided terrific insights into WA retirees’ concerns about lifestyle and retirement.

So now we’d like to delve a little deeper into the topic to find out who is the “chief financial officer” at home.

We’re interested in understanding how financial decisions are made by you and your partner. Who pays the bills? Who makes the money decisions and how do you agree? Do you have separate or joint bank accounts? Do you have an agreed budget or do you spend money without your partner knowing? And what about super? Do you know each other’s balance?

We suspect many aren’t having these conversations, leave it up to someone else, or bury their heads in the sand to deal with “later”. But we may be wrong! Which is why we’re keen to hear what you have to say in our Who’s the Boss survey.
