Ideal conditions for Ike Stol Memorial

Broome Advertiser - - SPORT - Sara Hennessy

Last Thursday Derby anglers gearing themselves up for the Ike Stol memorial fishing competition had the wind blown up them quite literally as Derby was subjected to 80km/h-plus winds which blanketed the town with marsh dust, reducing visibility down to just metres at times.

Conversation was intense at competition registration with many anglers changing fishing plans, not trusting the forward weather report of calm conditions.

This made for a fabulous weekend with anglers spread from the Cuttings, to mud holes, Dam Creek and Inland Sea. The weather ended up being ideal and everyone experienced sensational fishing with laughs and good times topping off a great comp.

Joshua Coggins took out Champion Nipper and Alessio Cavallaro champion junior, fishthe ing up in the Inland Sea area while Dam Creek did not disappoint with Kristen Campbell taking out champion female and Jason Tompsett completing a trifecta to claim champion male for third time. Many thanks to the Stol clan who travelled from as far away as Bunbury to be a part of the event and remind us of the importance of the three Fs, Family, Friends and Fishing!
