Free household drop-off at waste facility
The Shire is offering two weekends of free household waste drop off at the Waste Management Facility to help prepare for cyclone season. This year, the annual pre-cyclone waste disposal weekends will be 27-28 October and 3-4 November and is available to residents, in addition to the six free waste passes supplied each year to ratepayers. There will be no kerbside collection. Eligible items include white goods; scrap metal; furniture and mattresses; e-waste; batteries; green waste and timber; and oil. Items NOT eligible include tyres and car parts, gas bottles, asbestos, paint, liquid waste, chemical or hazardous waste; commercial and demolition waste; flares; and fire extinguishers. The Waste Management Facility is open 7.30am to 3.30pm Saturday and 8am to 2pm Sunday. Seniors and residents with mobility limitations can request help to remove items from their property by contacting the Shire Office. Limits apply.
