Broome Advertiser - - Sport - Carly Laden

After a short break for school holidays, floorball has returned to the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre, with six teams battling it out for supremacy.

The Freestylers, The Strangers and Pirates all got themselves off to great starts in round 1 of competition on Tuesday, October 9, notching big wins.

The Freestylers, looking to redeem themselves from their third-place play-off performance in September, made a big splash in the new season, recording a 18-4 win over Florence and the Machines.

The Strangers had a similar start to their season, defeating Catalina Pelicans 14-4, while Pirates held off The Stingers to obtain a 12-8 victory.

A new feature of the new season is the introduction of a junior floorball competition, comprising Thunder, Bullets and The Flamin Rubber Ducks.

While The Flamin Rubber Ducks had a bye to begin their season, Thunder smashed Bullets 14-2 in the inaugural junior match.
