Plenty of options when the breeze is up
Derby’s afternoon breezes have been savage lately, which has put a dampener on getting out to the creeks via King Sound.
But the great thing about Derby is there are so many options close by that do not require launching into rough conditions at the ramp.
Getting up the Bungarung Road for a fish at Blue Holes and Mud Holes Creek systems has resulted in some great captures of barramundi up to 120cm and jacks, fingermark and mulloway.
Quad biking across the marsh to the back of Doctors Creek has been productive for some, with one angler reaching his takehome bag limit of barra in less than an hour.
