An intense clash between the two top sides has resulted in Greenbacks reigning supreme and advancing to the Broome Touch Association division 1 grand final.
In the preliminary finals last Thursday, Greenbacks went up against Roey Roosters in an exciting match-up between the competition’s most dominant teams.
Roosters’ Gareth Preece was quick to get things rolling with a try to begin the match, followed by great defensive pressure from the collective.
However, after taking a few minutes to find their groove, Greenbacks’ Layla Yu broke through to get her team on the board.
Despite the midfield struggle throughout the first half, it was an all-female scoring affair for the Greenbacks as Katherine Dann, Elle Fong and Annie Dann built up a lead.
Preece managed another try late to bring the half-time margin to just three points, setting up an exciting conclusion for spectators.
After the main break, both teams utilised their fast players and abundant substitutes to quickly gain ground in offence.
However, Yu once again broke through the Roosters’ defences to extend the Greenbacks’ lead.
What followed was a succession of Greenbacks tries from Jordan Bacon, Damien Parriman and Joey Kain, as well as Yu scoring her hattrick.
It seemed Roosters began to falter during the second half, with the Greenbacks’ pressure getting too much, resulting in many fumbles.
Despite showing promise late in the second half, Roosters were ultimately kept scoreless and Greenbacks took home the 10-2 victory.
Greenbacks will take on Scoregasms in the division 1 grand final, after Scoregasms managed an upset 7-4 win over Tox Free Runaways.
Meanwhile in division 2, Exploders upset Bush Chooks 6-2 and The Animals smashed Broome Pirates 16-6, setting up an intense grand final match-up.
The Broome Touch Association grand finals will kick off tonight at 6 at Father McMahon Oval.
Greenbacks' Ash Dann looks to make a pass to teammate Elle Fong before Roey Roosters' Gareth Preece gets a touch.
