Fever star a high­light of friendly car­ni­val

Net­ballers got the chance to cel­e­brate the 2018 NAIDOC mes­sage among friendly com­pe­ti­tion in the NAIDOC North West Net­ball Car­ni­val.

Teams from across the North West flocked to the Broome Re­cre­ation Cen­tre last Fri­day and Satur­day to take part in a round-robin com­pe­ti­tion. Af­ter an­other com­pe­ti­tion was held ear­lier in the year, Net­ball WA wanted to cel­e­brate the NAIDOC mes­sage of “Be­cause of Her, We Can”.

Ju­nior teams com­peted on Fri­day, while the se­nior teams took to the courts on Satur­day in a twi­light com­pe­ti­tion.

The ju­nior teams also got the chance to meet West Coast Fever and Aus­tralian Di­a­monds player Court­ney Bruce.

Bruce was in Broome af­ter tak­ing part in a lead­er­ship camp with the Shoot­ing Stars pro­gram in Lom­bad­ina.

She said she was ex­cited to see how the Shoot­ing Stars teams fared in the ju­nior com­pe­ti­tion af­ter help­ing out with men­tor­ing them over the pre­ced­ing week.

De­spite the wet sea­son heat kick­ing in, the two-day net­ball car­ni­val was en­joyed by all par­tic­i­pants.
