Cherabin and barra abundance

Broome Advertiser - - Sport - Sara Hennessy

Many of you will remember life “BC” — before children.

A time when you would wake up in the morning, realise the weather was perfect and just load your gear and go fishing.

Last weekend, I reminisced about those days as I ferried around five children from birthday party to the community Christmas party to choir performances — all in near-perfect fishing conditions.

Being cautious of track conditions after a good wet-season storm late on Friday night, other lucky Derby anglers were able to capitalise on the moment, with reports coming through of good cherabin captures at Tumblegoodie on the Fitzroy River and solid barra captures around Meda Sands on the May River.

Mudcrabs are also still being caught in good numbers in and around the Derby Township.
