Christmas wishes from president

Broome Advertiser - - OPINION - Harold Tracey Harold Tracey is the Shire of Broome president.

At the end of a very busy and productive year for Broome, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

We’ve accomplished a great deal in 2018 as we work together to develop our town for the benefit of all those who call Broome home.

It’s been rewarding, but also hectic at times and I’ve appreciated the support of the community and my fellow Shire of Broome councillors and staff.

Along with many in our community I’m looking forward to the opportunity to take a break and spend time with family and friends over Christmas, and to come back refreshed and recharged to tackle the exciting opportunities ahead of us in 2019.

If you’re heading out of town for Christmas I wish you a safe return, and for those who are staying at home enjoy Broome at this special time of the year.

And just finally, please don’t drink and drive during the Christmas and new year period. This is a time to celebrate but not to excess, and not to mar this wonderful time of year with tragedy on our roads.

On behalf of Broome Shire councillors and staff, I look forward to having our community back together, happy and healthy in 2019.
