Broome Advertiser - - News -

Preparations are underway to celebrate Australia Day in Broome with the annual community breakfast at Town Beach.

Broome’s hardworking Lions, Lioness and Rotary Clubs, Roebuck Lodge and Men’s Shed will again host the event, cooking and serving a $2 breakfast from 8am to 10am on Saturday 26 January. The Shire of Broome is providing sponsorship and support for the event that will also include live music, children’s activities, an Australian Citizenship Ceremony, presentation of the Community Citizen of the Year Awards, and Australia Day Ambassador Dr Robert Isaacs. Broome Shire President, Harold Tracey, says Australia Day is an opportunity for the community to come together in celebration, to welcome new Australian citizens to Broome and to recognise those who contribute to our community. Once again there will be no evening fireworks event this year after previous cancellations due to bad weather.

Broome’s Community Citizens of the Year for 2019 will be announced during the annual Australia Day Breakfast at Town Beach.
