CATHAY COMEBACK

I am a long term subscriber to Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, and this is only the second time I have written to make a comment. I would like to compliment Cathay Pacific (CX) on their new business class cabins.

In 2008, I commented on the airline’s thennew business class seats, which were truly a disappointment. I swore then not to fly with the airline until it had been updated.

Last October, I flew Melbourne-Hong Kong-Charles De Gaulle on CX104 and CX261, and experienced what was certainly an improvement in the business seat design and configuration. All seats are roomy, comfortable and slightly angled, and designed so you are not looking into the face of your neighbour.

The seat reclines to meet the footrest and all controls for your seat and screen are positioned at a convenient shoulder level. The positioning of the table ensured I was not fighting to dislodge it from the seat armrest. There was also a good selection of current movies on offer, which I duly watched.

I returned last November on CX260 and CX163, Charles De Gaulle-Hong KongMelbourne and as per previous flights the service was excellent, in particular the senior stewardess on CX260. The food was plentiful and of good quality, along with an excellent choice of wines.

I am a Qantas club member of many years but would have no hesitation in flying with CX again in the future.
