AMAZING ANA

Following the launch of a Boeing 787 service from Japan to Singapore by All Nippon Airways (ANA), my wife and I recently flew to Osaka via Tokyo on ANA’s B787 and we were not disappointed. One feature of ANA’s service that I continue to appreciate is its consistency, as time and again, it proves to be above average when compared to other regional carriers. Specific to the features of its economy class service on its B787, ANA provided onboard service which was among the best one can experience – the amenities, quality of food and drink and attention to passengers’ needs and requests by the cabin crew.

In economy class, one of my pet peeves is having the passenger immediately in front of me suddenly recline their seat. As I’m rather tall, this has caused bruised knees on more than one occasion. On a recent flight from Singapore to Guangzhou on Singapore Airlines, a passenger did exactly that on several occasions and slammed her seat back during the inflight meal service, which caused my drink to tip over and made the rest of my flight unenjoyable.

When I discovered that the economy class seats on ANA’s B-787 were designed so that the back rests can’t incline and the seat instead slides forward, I was thrilled. I recognise that while ANA’s decision on this seat design might not have been popular with back-rest slammers and others, I applaud the airline for taking this decision and enabling passengers such as myself to continue to enjoy my flights on ANA. Well done ANA and please keep up your superb standards.
