As I was off to Bristol for a flying visit with Easy Jet, I popped my head in the new BA lounge and asked the very nice lady if I could have a wee nosey. I explained I wasn’t flying with BA and merely wanted to have a look.

She was most obliging and asked if I was an exec-card holder. I explained that BA had made a mess of my recent AA flights to Austin, Rio, Sao Paulo and Heathrow, and I was waiting on them to sort it out to get back to Silver. Anyhow, as the lounge was empty she was happy enough for me to have a coffee, which I duly did.

Fantastic lounge, and even though I’ve said often that lounges aren’t a big deal for me, the way BA have put the Edinburgh lounge together really has changed my habits. I’m off to Seville soon with Easy Jet from Gatwick and have booked BA to get me there.

Credit where credit is due, smashing lounge and staffed by the most lovely “dragons”.

Does anyone know if BA is changing the gates it uses for the Heathrow and Gatwick flights in order to be closer to the new lounge? I think London City Airport flights already use those gates.

Alastair-Actually – BA’s London City Airport flights sometimes use Gate 5, right outside the new lounge, but also frequently depart from the high numbered gates at the other end of the terminal. Its Heathrow and Gatwick flights usually depart from gates 7, 9, or 10, which are only a minute from lounge. Given that Virgin (and sometimes Easy Jet) operate from Gate 6, the only gate that is any closer to the lounge, I doubt BA will bother swapping gates for the sake of a 30 second walk.

Currently sat in Edinburgh’s BA lounge having a Tiger beer and reading the predictable names on this forum thread.

For those interested, the new lounge is very good, it has a wide variety of sandwiches and crisps, some soup and a great selection of wines, spirits and beers – and the “dragons” are fantastic.

I reckon it is more than double the size of the old one, and surprisingly (for me) it is rather busy on a Sunday evening, although there are delays on flights thanks to the weather in England.

I had a pleasant visit to the Edinburgh lounge recently. I was impressed with the improvements in space, seating and decor.

The catering remains the same: very good, and the staff (both BA and catering) were excellent.

And most importantly, there are toilets inside the lounge!! Hurrah!

Indeed John, particularly nice loos at that.

I finally visited it last week and liked it. Loads more space and light. Did'nt actually sample the loos though.

I was there after xmas – a vast improvement compared to the old one. Very pleasant. Toilets are far superior to the hopelessness of Heathrow's T5 lounge ones. Not been to the new one in Glasgow anyone know what that is like?

Used it a few times now... very comfortable, can get a little busy when more than one flight is due for departure (ie both Gatwick) and Heathrow flights) but there is a decent selection of sandwiches, including veg options.
