THREE HOTELS WITH QUIRKY WATER FEATURES
RELAXING ON THE ROCKS
Two new “Spa on the Rocks” villas have been unveiled at Ayana Resort and Spa Bali. Each villa is perched on a large boulder with uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean. Accessible via a wooden bridge, each villa features two treatment beds, a changing area, bathroom and shower, as well as an oceanview bathtub. There is also a terrace for an outdoor foot-washing ritual prior to the massage. ayana.com
A POOL WITHIN A POOL
Laucala Island in Fiji has built its 25-metre-long lap pool as an elevated glass box that protrudes into the larger lagoon-style swimming pool below. The unusual see-through walls give guests outside the pool an underwater view of those inside. The water within the pool comes from a salt water chlorinated system that makes it less irritating to sensitive skin. laucala.com
UNDER THE SEA
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is set to introduce the underwater Muraka suite at the end of the year. The two-storey structure has a section located above the sea along with an undersea suite situated about five metres below sea level, offering views of the surrounding marine environment. The suite will have a king-sized bed, a living area and a bathroom, all connected to the upper-level living room via a spiral staircase. conradhotels3.hilton.com
