HONG KONG AIR­LINES’ long-awaited new busi­ness class seats have fi­nally ar­rived with the Rock­well Collins-de­signed “Su­per Di­a­mond” fully flat beds, set to de­but on re­gional flights to Bangkok be­fore of­fi­cially launch­ing on its Los An­ge­les ser­vice later this year.

The air­line’s fifth Air­bus A350-900 air­craft is the first to see the new seats – the pre­vi­ous four fea­ture the air­line’s older busi­ness class prod­uct. No­tably, these seats of­fer two inches more in length and three inches more in width than the pre­vi­ous seat, re­sult­ing in a 78 x 26-inch bed. Laid out in a 1-2-1 re­verse her­ring­bone con­fig­u­ra­tion, the seats al­low for di­rect aisle ac­cess for all pas­sen­gers.

Hong Kong Air­lines has also in­tro­duced a new AVANT in-flight en­ter­tain­ment (IFE) sys­tem, de­vel­oped by Thales Group, with a larger 17-inch high-def­i­ni­tion screen.
