ALCOVE HOTEL SEOUL Last month saw the opening of Accorhotels’ latest addition to the South Korean capital, located in the Gangnam district. Overlooking the Seolleung and Jeongneung Royal Park – a Unesco World Heritage site – the 108-room property has a similarly tranquil ambience within, aided by solid wood furnishings. A rooftop bar, Club Limit, offers great views of the surrounding area. accor.com

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS SEOUL HONGDAE IHG opened its second Holiday Inn Express property in Seoul in September in the city’s lively Hongdae district. Located about 30 minutes from Gimpo airport and 50 minutes from Incheon airport, the 294-room property is close to the new AK Mall, Hongdae Mural Street and Yeontral Park, while within the property itself are a 24-hour gym and a self-service business centre. ihg.com

JW MARRIOTT SEOUL No, this is not a new hotel, but after reopening following an extensive eight-month-long renovation, we feel it’s worth a mention. Guestrooms have been revamped by Korean design firm Kesson with a warm grey and taupe palette and photo walls depicting works from local artist Seungsang Park, while the rest of the interiors have been redesigned by American design firm Olson Kundig to feature natural elements. marriott.com

AVANI CENTRAL BUSAN HOTEL This 289-room hotel will be Avani Hotels and Resorts’ second property in Busan when it opens in early 2019. The hotel shares a location in the tallest commercial building in the city with the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC), within the Munhyeon Finance Complex about 30 minutes from Gimhae International Airport. avanihotels.com
