New hotel openings in 2024

From a boutique hotel in an upbeat district of Hong Kong to a wellness resort in Dubai, we take a look at some properties opening around the world in the coming year

PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Jakarta Opening date: January 2024

Easy access to public transport (including Dukuh Atas MRT station and the Soekarno–Hatta Airport Rail Link) make this city-centre property a great option for business travellers. There will be fantastic views of Indonesia’s capital city, too – the property will open inside the Luminary Tower, which is the country’s tallest building and part of the recently opened Thamrin Nine Complex, a mixed-use complex with office space, leisure facilities and restaurant­s. There will be five categories of suites, although all will have kitchenett­es and open-plan bathrooms with movable screens for privacy. The PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Jakarta scores highly in the sustainabi­lity stakes too – there will be a wastewater recycling plant and 1,272 sqm of lush outdoor space.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London Opening date: Q1 2024

There will be just 50 rooms in this hotel when it opens on Hanover Square in early 2024. It’s set to be one of London’s most stylish new hotels, thanks to the input of architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Tokyo-based design studio Curiosity and UK-based Indigo. Amenities will include a spa specialisi­ng in treatments from the world’s most luxurious skincare brands (along with biohacking-inspired therapies), and the hotel will have the

UK’s first Akira Back restaurant from the award-winning namesake chef. A fun fact? The bricks used in the hotel’s constructi­on are the longest and thinnest in the UK, and were made exclusivel­y for the property. Rates: Deluxe room from £980 mandarinor­iental.com/london/mayfair

InterConti­nental Bellevue at The Avenue, Seattle Opening date: January 2024

This 208-room hotel will be in the heart of the city’s Bellevue neighbourh­ood, and will occupy nine floors of a 26-storey tower. There will be 1,114 sqm of meeting space and a wide range of culinary options, including a restaurant helmed by Masaharu Morimoto (famous for his role on American TV series Iron Chef) and pastaRAMEN, run by James Beard-nominated chef Robbie Felice. Other highlights include a huge outdoor deck and patio, and an ultramoder­n spa and fitness centre.

Avani Frankfurt City Hotel Opening date: January 2024

Avani Hotels & Resorts will open its first German property in Frankfurt in January 2024. Aimed at “millennial-minded travellers”, the Avani Frankfurt City Hotel will have 256 rooms, with amenities including an AvaniFit gym, sauna and steam room and a grab-and-go deli.

The central location is ten minutes from the main train station, and 25 minutes from the airport, while the Messe Frankfurt convention centre is also easily accessible. It’s one of several new European openings from Avani. In June 2023, Avani made its Spanish debut with the 101-room Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid, and by the end of 2024 the brand will have opened a 163-room hotel in Amsterdam, which will be its first Netherland­s property.

SIRO One Za’abeel, Dubai Opening date: February 2024

Business travellers who like to balance workloads with wellness should consider checking into the five-star SIRO hotel in Dubai. It’s the brand’s first property, and will be located in the One Za’abeel developmen­t. The hotel’s USP will be its focus on five pillars: fitness, nutrition, sleep, recovery and mindfulnes­s. It’s the brainchild of Kerzner Internatio­nal, the parent company of One&Only Resorts and Atlantis Resort & Residences, and notable perks include cooling mattresses, so-called recovery cabinets stocked with workout essentials, and comprehens­ive pillow menus.

Other new hotels opening in Dubai in 2024 include the Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, which was designed by Shaun Killa – the genius behind the Dubai Opera House and The Museum of the Future – which also opens in early 2024.
