First look: Cathay Pacific’s new premium economy

-

CATHAY PACIFIC HAS REVEALED

mock-ups of its new premium economy product in Hong Kong.

The new cabin is set to debut on the upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft later this year, alongside the new business class Aria suite.

The seats will remain the same size in terms of width (21 inches), pitch

(40 inches) and recline (8 inches), and in a 2-4-2 layout. But they’ll have a new look, with green-greys and brown leather accents, and feature better privacy and tech. A new extended wing design on headrests hides your neighbour’s face and contains a personal reading spotlight. Brown leather cushioned headrests and footrest straps add comfort and a premium feel.

New storage options include a leather pouch on the inside of the seat, along with a new USB-C port. Regular USB and AC power points will be located by your legs. The seat-back pocket will also be able to store up to a 13-inch laptop.

Another notable upgrade is a big increase in the IFE screen size, stretching to 15.6 inches (from 11 inches) featuring 4K monitors and Bluetooth pairing.

The new premium economy will also feature the latest GUI (graphical user interface) system that is currently being rolled out across Airbus A350 aircraft and new fleet additions. This will come with a more thematic navigation system, an updated 3D map and better cameras for live nose and tail views.

Later this year, the carrier will also reveal new sustainable dining elements in premium economy and economy.
