Nomads’ birthday bash
Coast branch celebrating their success
MEMBERS of the Australian Caravan Club (ACC) Sunshine Nomads branch had plenty to be happy about this year – the branch celebrated its 10th anniversary as a branch of the ACC.
ACC chairman Craig Humphrey, of Golden Beach, said the ACC was initially founded in 2006 at the Golden Beach Caravan Park at Caloundra.
“A group of caravanners felt that the then existing RV Clubs did not focus enough on protecting and representing the interests of owners of caravans,” he said.
“Our club has since grown and evolved to include the owners of pop-top caravans, motorhomes, slide-on campers, camper-trailers, campervans and five-wheelers.
“While our membership base has changed, our simple foundations have remained. Our focus now is to protect and represent the interests of all RVers.”
Mr Humphrey said the first branch of the ACC formed in April 2007.
“As the inaugural branch, when the number of branch members grew, the branch would work to form a new branch to accommodate the growing size of the ACC,” he said.
“Several of our club’s Southeast Queensland branches are as a consequence of the work of the ACC Sunshine Nomads.”
He said over the past decade, many ACC Sunshine Nomads had made valuable contributions to the club.
“(They) have served as directors on the club’s board, and have been a driving force in membership recruitment, policy, and club administration. Congratulations and thank you to the members of the branch for the past 10 years,” he said.
ACC Sunshine Nomads president Chris Forrest said branch members were very proud of their contributions to the success that the ACC is today.
“Some members of our branch were founding members of the ACC,” he said.
“Our branch enjoys the social aspects of caravanning.
“We have a muster approximately every six weeks at various venues.”
“In addition we also have luncheons throughout the year which allows everyone to catch up.”
