Sunshine Coast Daily - Caloundra Weekly - - LIFE LOCAL LIFE -

THE good energy in Aussie schools could win them one of five solar systems valued at over $26,000 each thanks to a competition from the nation’s leading energy retailer.

Origin is inviting schools to show off their good energy in whatever form it takes – be it through volunteering in the local community, raising funds for a charity, health and fitness programs, or environmental conservation and recycling.

Origin - who has installed over 1 million solar panels in the last 15 years – will reward one eligible school in each of Queensland, NSW, Victoria, SA and WA with a fully installed 20.625kW solar system.

For the winning schools, this could mean an average saving of $8,500 on their annual electricity billii, plus a reduction of their annual carbon emissions equivalent to conserving 27.7 acres of forests in one year. To enter, people need to write up to 100 words about how their school spreads good energy and how it will benefit from the prize, with the option to include an image or video with their entry. Information on Origin’s website.
