Tradies, stay healthy

Sunshine Coast Daily - Caloundra Weekly - - NEWS -

AUGUST is Tradies National Health Month.

It’s an important initiative that aims to raise awareness of workplace safety.

According to Safe Work Australia, tradies make up a third of the workforce yet represent 58 per cent of serious accidents nationally – many of which are preventable.

Tradies are often required to do repetitive physical tasks including lifting and handling large equipment and objects that can place workers at particular risk of back and neck injuries.

These types of injuries can have long-lasting impacts on individuals, their families and local communities, which is why proper training and the implementation of adequate safety procedures is key to protecting people at work.

I urge tradies to look after themselves and others on the job this month and beyond to help ensure everyone gets home safely at the end of the work day.
