Pryme time for exercise

IT’S time to get physical with the Pryme Movers.
YMCA Gymnastics Caloundra fitness instructor Carolyn Giovannetti is a long-standing YMCA trainer from Victoria but now calls the Sunshine Coast home.
The trainer introduced the Pryme Movers program to the Caloundra branch almost a year ago.
“There was a Pryme Movers in Brisbane as well but I’m pretty proud because we’ve been able to really keep our numbers up.
“I believe we’re the only Pryme Movers still going with the YMCA,” Mrs Giovannetti said.
The class is designed for seniors and is a combination of aerobics, warm ups, strength training and muscle conditioning exercises followed by a cool down and relaxation.
The classes are run for one hour and offer both seated and standing variations to provide options for all participants.
“It caters for all,” Ms Giovannetti said. “Some people haven’t exercised for a long time or actually ever, so we nurture them along.”
Three dedicated trainers rotate the classes, which started at just one class a week.
Popularity has risen steadily and the classes have grown to allow an extra one a week with plans to introduce pilates and more specified classes.
“We want to cater for all levels, so we are hoping to have a very active class and a more passive class too,” said the YMCA trainer.
“Here you’re not tied down to a gym membership so you can come casually or regularly.
“We have nice music and get to muck around a bit too.
“So we have heaps of fun.
