ONE dedicated angel has been named the Pyjama Angel of the Year for the Sunshine Coast.

Caloundra resident Tina Clothier has been with the Pyjama Angels for more than four years and her hard work is appreciated.

The Pyjama Foundation was founded in 2004 to give children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning life skills and confidence.

Ms Clothier has been involved with the same family for three of those years.

“They’re part of our family,” she said. “Lots of the kids involved struggle in everyday life, so seeing them achieve something and being proud of themselves is the most important thing to me.”

Ms Clothier was working in a Sunshine Coast adult literacy program when her colleague mentioned the Pyjama Angels.

After she applied and got accepted she said “the rest was history”.

She believes literacy is a significant skill.

“Literacy is really important. If you can read, you can do anything.”

Ms Clothier was humbled by her win.

“I was really surprised. I think it’s nice to be appreciated,” said Ms Clothier. “The family wrote a beautiful testimonial. What they wrote bought tears to my eyes. The work the Pyjama Angel Foundation does is absolutely amazing.”
