Colour in your world
Let a glass of red be the catalyst to your creativity
PAINTBRUSH in one hand and a glass of wine in the other – it’s hard to find a better evening than that.
The Art Hub in Caloundra hosts painting nights with BYO to develop confidence and provide a space for people to try something new and creative.
The Art Hub facilitator Natasha Holloway said “it’s a paint and sip evening.”
“The whole concept is to introduce painting to people who might not have ever tried it before.
“All of the paintings are created so a novice can walk away feeling accomplished or successful in their painting.
“For people who feel creative they can use the evening to build upon that,” said Ms Holloway.
The session is about two and a half hours long and participants focus on one painting for the evening.
“We encourage people to put their own touches on it.
“It’s a wonderful, social evening. We don’t even call it a class, we call it a social.”
The idea initially came via social media.
“I used to see all these posts from my friends back in Canada.
“They were coming home with these wonderful paintings,” she said.
Ms Holloway decided the idea would be well received by the Sunshine Coast and she invites local artists come in to teach the sessions.
“That way it helps the artists to form a community at The Art Hub as well.”
The paint and sip socials aren’t the only cool thing happening at the hub.
Children’s art classes, life drawings and even drama collaboration are all happening under the hub’s roof.
“We do a variety of different things and it gives people an opportunity to try different things,” said Ms Holloway.
