A GOLD star for Caloundra pharmacist Edward Yau has left him a proud winner.

Star Pharmacy Group announced the winners of its 2018 Pharmacy Group Awards and Priceline Caloundra’s Mr Yau ranked as Pharmacist Manager of the Year.

The title is attributed to the chemist’s leadership qualities, passion for his team and profession, and the attentiveness of self-development, growth and customer service.

Mr Yau was delighted when he found out he had won.

“There are over 50-plus other deserving pharmacists in the group and to be nominated in the top five was incredible as it was,” he said.

“When Tim the CEO called out my name as the winner, I was speechless and felt so excited.”

Mr Yau said the team at Priceline Caloundra was a huge support and felt like “the work family away from home”.

“I would like to thank my team at Priceline Caloundra for supporting me this year and being the work family away from home,” he said.

“We see each other more so than we see our own family so winning the award was for them and also all the lovely customers that we help every day.

“I love my job as a community pharmacist and love Caloundra and the Sunny Coast.”

Star Pharmacy Group chief executive Tim Payze said he was proud to lead a talented and driven team.

Star Pharmacy Group executive director Peter Gardiakos said it was a wonderful feeling to bring leaders and teams together all over Australia.

“When we succeed, we celebrate,” he said.

Star Pharmacy Group incorporates a number of independent community pharmacies and national pharmacy brands.

The group operates 50 stores nationwide and employs about 730 employees.
