Gallery un­veils its 2019 pro­gram

CALOUN­DRA Re­gional Gallery an­nounced its 2019 ex­hi­bi­tion pro­gram re­cently, a pro­gram that will show­case ex­pe­ri­en­tial art, sculp­ture, photo me­dia and in­stal­la­tion by lead­ing lo­cal and Aus­tralian artists.

The ex­hi­bi­tions will al­low vis­i­tors to im­merse them­selves in works by artists in­clud­ing Ross Man­ning (Dis­so­nant Rhythms), Mar­garet Ellen Turner (Paint­ing Space), Bianca Beet­son (Be­ing Hu­man) and El­iz­a­beth Will­ing, food artist.

In ad­di­tion, the gallery will present The Ky­oto Hanga In­ter­na­tional Print Ex­hi­bi­tion: Ja­pan and Aus­tralia, in part­ner­ship with the Print Coun­cil of Aus­tralia and Ky­ota Hanga, Ja­pan.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will in­volve 40 Ja­panese artists and 25 Aus­tralian artists in­clud­ing six lo­cal Sun­shine Coast artists.

The sig­na­ture Sun­shine Coast Art Prize ex­hi­bi­tion will again be a high­light be­tween July 25 and Septem­ber 15.

Arts Port­fo­lio coun­cil­lor Rick Baberowski said the 2019 pro­gram would both in­trigue and in­spire lo­cals and vis­i­tors to the re­gion.

“The gallery team has put to­gether a more con­cep­tual, out­ward-look­ing pro­gram of ex­hi­bi­tions,” Cr Baberowski said.

Caloun­dra Re­gional Gallery cu­ra­tor Hamish Sawyer said the ex­hi­bi­tion pro­gram brought to­gether a di­verse of­fer­ing of ex­hi­bi­tions.

“The 2019 pro­gram brings the di­ver­sity of con­tem­po­rary vis­ual arts prac­tice to the Sun­shine Coast,” Mr Sawyer said.
