Five years on and still going strong

Sunshine Coast Daily - Caloundra Weekly - - LIFE | LOCAL LIFE -

YMCA Caloundra has celebrated their fifth anniversary at their regular Term One event.

The YMCA centre started in March 2014 as a shared activity in 80sqm of a community hall for five hours per week.

Now the full-time centre has expanded to two buildings, with a world-class gymnastics hall of 800sqm.

The Y Centre caters for fitness and gymnastics for one-year-old through to 90 years old, and has classes for adults, seniors, masters and other recreations (martial arts, skating, dance).

“YMCA Caloundra grew from a local collaboration of founding staff, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and the Brisbane YMCA. The Y’s activities were a much-demanded addition to the wider Caloundra community, and the club grew to one of the largest member participant sport and recreation clubs on the Coast,” YMCA program manager Trevor Dowdell said.

YMCA Caloundra foundation members Madisyn Topping, Olivia Holak and Grace Koch were on hand to cut the cake for the 150 guests.
