Mother wins top nursing accolade
CARLA Dreyer has been named Graduate Nurse of the Year by the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.
“I feel honoured to be chosen,” she said.
“I worked hard during my first year as a graduate nurse, doing my best to learn as much as I could.”
The Caloundra mother-ofthree is also celebrating her appointment to the emergency department at Nambour General Hospital with a rotation to Sunshine Coast University Hospital later this year.
“I’ve reached my goal of becoming an emergency nurse and I’m loving it,” she said.
“My role is to provide initial, primary and secondary assessment and care for patients and I’m learning alongside an amazing team of health professionals.
“Communication is a big part of the job, and it’s important to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.”
