Cuppa for a cause

Sunshine Coast Daily - Caloundra Weekly - - NEWS -

THE weather is starting to get cooler, and the rain has been welcome, so it’s the perfect time to pour a cuppa to keep warm while raising vital funds to support the work of Cancer Council Queensland.

For the sixth year the Caloundra community will gather on May 24 for the Biggest Morning Tea which I will again host with the Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific.

Recent data released by the Cancer Council’s Viertel Cancer Research Centre, cancer diagnoses on the Sunshine Coast have tripled in the past 30 years with the five most common diagnosed cancers being prostate, melanoma, breast, colorectal and lung cancer. However it is also clear from the data released that survival rates for these cancers are steadily improving.

While events like the Biggest Morning Tea make for an enjoyable morning with friends, they also play an important role in raising awareness of prevention and early diagnoses.

Raise a cuppa on May 24, 8.30am for 9am morning tea, at the CCSA Hall, 1 Nutley St, Caloundra.

To register ring 5329 4100.
