EXTREMELY POPULAR WITH both photographers and film-makers, LaCie’s line of heavyduty Rugged series portable hard drives has now exceeded four million units. The range of distinctive-looking drives with their bright orange protective coverings has expanded to include a variety of models, including the Raid Pro with a built-in SD format memory card reader and the Thunderbolt USB-C for faster data transfers.

The new Rugged Raid Pro is thinner and lighter than its predecessor and configurable with the LaCie RAID Manager. It has 4.0 TB of storage via two HDDs and a maximum data transfer speed of 240 MB/second via a USB-C connection.

The Thunderbolt USB-C is available with either a 500 GB or 1.0 TB solid state drive (SSD) and with both USB-C and Thunderbolt connections enabling a data transfer speed of up to 510 MB/ second. HDD versions are available in storage capacities of 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 and 5.0 TB, but with a slower maximum data transfer rate of 130 MB/second. All these models are backed by a three-year warranty which includes the Seagate Rescue data recovery service.

The LaCie Rugged Raid drives are designed to safely carry or capture up to 4.0 TB of data and are available in two versions – one with a built-in SD card reader and USB-C connection, the other with both Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 connections. Additionally, these drives can be configured with hardware RAID 0 for data transfer at up to 240 MB/second or RAID 1 for enhanced data protection.

With storage capacities of 1.0, 2.0 or 4.0 TB via HDDs, the Rugged Mini models are more compact in size, so they can be easily carried in a backpack, small bag or laptop case, but retain the same levels of external protection. The maximum data transfer rate is 130 MB/second via a USB 3.0 connection.

All the LaCie Rugged portable drives are waterresistant, shock resistant and drop resistant. For more information visit
