Bringing good ideas to life
IF YOU are a local community group, club or organisation in Campaspe Shire, now is the time to apply for a community grant to bring that project to fruition.
A total of $142,000 is available to not-for-profit entities in round two of council’s 2016-17 community grants program.
Mayor Leigh Wilson urged all community groups to apply for a grant regardless of their size.
‘‘The purpose of the community grants program is to support the important work of not-for-profit groups in our community,’’ he said.
‘‘Whether small or large, all community groups make a valuable contribution to the shire of Campaspe, both on an individual level and on a broader scale.
‘‘We encourage you to act early to give yourself the best chance of being successful in gaining a grant. Speak with staff to make sure that you tick all of the criteria boxes and your application meets all the relevant guidelines.
‘‘Then lodge your application in advance of the official closing date so you are not rushing at the end and potentially compromising your application by leaving out important information that may be required.’’
Community groups will now find it easier to apply for a community grant with a number of recent improvements to the program.
‘‘The application form is more logical in its structure, help notes are included in each section and the guidelines are now more concise,’’ Cr Wilson said.
‘‘We’ve also streamlined the grant categories from five to two, being events and community support. This will assist in assessing the diverse range of applications council receives in terms of staff resourcing and timeframes.’’
Applications are open until September 9.
Forms and guidelines can be downloaded from www.campaspe.vic.gov.au and are available in hard copy from the shire’s service centres.
Applications recommended for approval will be considered at the November council meeting.
