Hydrotherapy pool is now getting closer for Campaspe Shire
A HYDROTHERAPY pool is a step closer to becoming a reality in the Campaspe Shire.
The council voted in favour of the Campaspe Hydrotherapy Facility Feasibility Study which was prepared by an independent contractor.
Although council has supported the report, they are not committing to building one.
The report said receiving the study as finalised recognised the limitations of the report as well as the capacity for council to act on these findings.
‘‘While a hydrotherapy facility is feasible and would produce benefits to the community there would be a substantial financial outlay required (in the vicinity of $3 million),’’ the officers report said.
But despite some councillors voting against the motion Cr Wilson said it was a long time coming.
‘‘It is a very important item to get to the conclusion of and the way forward now is to find a company who is willing to meet the criteria, which one of the major ones is to put some coin on the table,’’ he said.
The council voted to support the principle benefits provided by a hydrotherapy facility, consider the provision of a facility as part of any future aquatic facility development, work with other government and private parties to explore funding opportunities or partnerships and investigate transport options to existing facilities in lieu of any service provision for vulnerable residents.
