New era arrives in town
The club, which is only a few months into its new venture, has found success with getting the community on board in the early stages.
‘‘We’ve had a number of great sponsors come on board and throw their support behind the club and we hope to see the community continue to support us as we go forward,’’ Martin said.
Now, with the logistics of combining two clubs into one solved, the focus becomes purely about what happens on the field.
And the club wants to see their team competitive almost immediately.
‘‘There will be a bit of teething as they play together,’’ Martin said.
‘‘But the goal for this team is going to be to be competitive as quickly as we can.
‘‘We’ve had success across most grades in the past few years, so hopefully that will result in more success for us this season.’’
The blue and yellow will open their B grade accounts as well, with Rochester Blue taking on Kyabram Fire Brigade at Windridge, while Rochester Gold will take on Girgarre at the Girgarre Recreation Reserve.
Rochester United and Rochester Tigers have been great rivals in recent seasons, but in 2018/19 former opposition players will become teammates.
