Rochy ladies roll past Locky
IN THE ladies midweek pennant, division two played host to Lockington and won by 20 shots.
Jane McCallum, Rhonda Hynes, Ev Nichol, Sandra Watkins defeated K Palmer 36-17.
Jane’s rink won the Kits Kafe Coffee award.
Serena Sholl, Elaine Hall, Val Gledhill, Janet Rankin defeated P Macfarlane 25-19.
Cheryl Anderson, Carol Cakebread, Aileen Fiedler, Inez Rushton lost to P Humbert 19-24.
Division one were at home to Rich River and were defeated by 15 shots.
Denise Pappin, Heather Curnick, Rae Ault, Di Milgate defeated R Wheeler 28-23.
Marg Knight, Lorraine Bond, Margaret Harley, Trish Costello lost to L Easther 25-27.
Lyn Moon, Jenny Major, Jeanette Kneebone, Yvonne Smolenaars had a tough day and lost 12-30.
Ladies social bowls winners last Tuesday were Aileen Fiedler, Rae Ault, Mary Burrows and lucky Aileen also won the raffle.
A few open championship second round matches were played during the week.

Clive Usher, Noel Sexton, Norm Christie, Sonia Keenan (making her pennant bowls debut) defeated G McConchie 24-23.
They were also the winners of the Rochester Hotel meal vouchers.

The Norm Knopp and the Northern District Challenge Shield events were played on Sunday at Moama.
Rochester were represented by David Keenan, Ash Vesty, Cameron Keenan, and in the ladies event Denise Pappin and Marg Knight.
The Campaspe ladies won the Northern District Shield, and the Goulburn Valley men won the Norm Knopp Shield.
ANOTHER fine week for bowls at the club.
On Tuesday the women played Rinks with the winning team comprising Joy Weller, Bev Brereton, Anne Lowrie and Phylis MacFarlane (s) in an awesome display of bowls from all players.
In the midweek pennant our ladies fell 20 shots short in the match against Rochester, losing the battle 60-80 with just the one rink up.
K Palmer lost to J McCallum 17-36; P Humbert def. C Anderson 24-14; P MacFarlane l.t. S Sholl 19-28.
The weekend pennant had both division two and four travel to Moama and play under cover on a perfect surface.
Division two fired up early in the match but the home team bowled better after the break to clinch a 12-shot victory 76-64.
G Turner l.t. N Varcoe 26-32 after leading 13-2 earlier; I Johnson l.t. T Hawley 17-20; J Harris l.t. G Pettigrove 21-24.
In division four the two top teams battled for the top position on the premiership table.
After the scheduled 75 ends, our teams managed to score a meritorious victory 71-66, with just the one rink win.
The Bill Musgrove rink was the catalyst for the overall win after recovering from 1-8 down after six ends, to win nine ends in a row and scoring 20 shots to finish up with a 28-17 victory.
Steve Peter lost 19-20 to the uncanny brilliance of Stuart Sutton and his rink.
Tom Davis lost a fluctuating game to David Blackburn 24-29 — unfortunately dropping a couple of triples on the last two ends.
Lockington lead the table on 53 points ahead of Mathoura 48 and Moama on 48.
We play Mathoura at home this week.
At the Friday evening barbecue the lucky members draw favoured Kevin Humbert in the mega victory.
Congratulations to the CVBD women on clinching the Northern Challenge shield on Sunday at the Moama Bowling Club.
Unfortunately the local CVBD men failed to win the Norm Knopp shield losing the games against Goulburn Valley 51-77 and Bendigo 60-74 before defeating Northern District 103-59.
Goulburn Valley defeated the Bendigo District in a final winner-take-all round three to collect the shield.
The Jean Sprague (Goulburn Valley) rink won the best performed team for the women while the John Stokes (Goulburn Valley) four won the men’s.
The club extends a great welcome to new members Mary Atkins, Denise Gilmore and Brian Kinnane.

COLBINABBIN midweek suffered its first defeat against Kyabram (the bottom team).
Robyn Weeks 26 lost to W Crilly 29 and Di Chandler 22 lost to J Herman 24.
Di Chandler’s rink led by eight shots at lunch time but after lunch struggled to win ends, while Robyn Weeks’ team came back after lunch.
Colbinabbin Saturday pennant travelled to Tallygaroopna in pleasant conditions but suffered their first defeat for the season.
R Rathjen 42 lost to G Murphy 16, G Chandler 19 lost to Rod Taylor 29 and Bob McLean 18 def G Rowan 15.
A big thank you to Kelly Walsh (first game) and Chris Oliver for helping out. SOCIAL NOTES John Brown left the green after the loss on Tuesday deflated, carrying a bag that was much lighter than when he arrived.
He recovered taking home a bottle of red due to a raffle win.
