Make a meal of it
HELPING people going hungry in your community is as easy as adding just $1 to your weekly grocery bill.
Buy a $1 Feed Appeal token at any Woolworths store during July and your donation will go twice as far — it will provide two meals for people in need.
Woolworths WA general manager Karl Weber invited customers to join the supermarket chain in helping nourish the community by purchasing a $1 token.
Mr Weber said Woolworths was the largest food donor to Fareshare, one of the appeal’s co-founders.
“Since the partnership started, we have rescued over three million kilos of food — the equivalent of six million nourishing meals for those that need it most,” he said.
Community News has joined the Feed WA Appeal, a national fundraiser that uses donations to provide grants to not-for-profit groups that help people in your neighbourhood.
Just 50 cents can provide a meal for someone in need.
Part of the nationwide Feed Appeal, it provides grants of up to $50,000 to help grassroots charities boost their capacity to store, cook and distribute food for struggling families, individuals, pensioners and students.
