CALADENIA Pri­mary School in Can­ning Vale has been recog­nised as one of the best pri­mary schools in WA.

The school, which is a fi­nal­ist in the 2019 WA Ed­u­ca­tion Awards, prides it­self on dig­nity, re­spect and cul­tural ac­cep­tance.

Caladenia PS prin­ci­pal of 11 years Ted Nas­tasi said he was in­cred­i­bly proud of his staff, stu­dents and par­ents for “this won­der­ful team ef­fort”.

“We are a fam­ily here and be­ing a fi­nal­ist means our team are recog­nised for do­ing a great job and I could not be more proud,’’ Mr Nas­tasi said.

“We have built such a beau­ti­ful cul­ture at our school and I ab­so­lutely love com­ing to work.”

Mr Nas­tasi said the school’s motto was “be the best you can be”, and not just aca­dem­i­cally.

Fi­nal­ists in the Best Pri­mary School cat­e­gory with Caladenia PS are Thorn­lie PS, Kal­go­or­lie PS and Daw­son Park PS in For­rest­field.

In to­tal, 32 in­di­vid­ual fi­nal­ists and 12 schools are in the run­ning for top honours in the 11 award cat­e­gories, in­clud­ing Thorn­lie PS prin­ci­pal Lee Woodcock for WA Pri­mary Prin­ci­pal of the Year, Wat­tle Grove PS teacher Johnathan Petch for Pri­mary Teacher of the Year and col­league An­n­janette Wisby for Ed­u­ca­tion As­sis­tant of the year.
