Top of the class
CALADENIA Primary School in Canning Vale has been recognised as one of the best primary schools in WA.
The school, which is a finalist in the 2019 WA Education Awards, prides itself on dignity, respect and cultural acceptance.
Caladenia PS principal of 11 years Ted Nastasi said he was incredibly proud of his staff, students and parents for “this wonderful team effort”.
“We are a family here and being a finalist means our team are recognised for doing a great job and I could not be more proud,’’ Mr Nastasi said.
“We have built such a beautiful culture at our school and I absolutely love coming to work.”
Mr Nastasi said the school’s motto was “be the best you can be”, and not just academically.
Finalists in the Best Primary School category with Caladenia PS are Thornlie PS, Kalgoorlie PS and Dawson Park PS in Forrestfield.
In total, 32 individual finalists and 12 schools are in the running for top honours in the 11 award categories, including Thornlie PS principal Lee Woodcock for WA Primary Principal of the Year, Wattle Grove PS teacher Johnathan Petch for Primary Teacher of the Year and colleague Annjanette Wisby for Education Assistant of the year.
