UNIVERSITY showed last year’s premier’s Scarborough hold no fear to them when they defeated them for the second time in three weeks to progress to the Perth Football League A Grade grand final.

Most of the match was an arm wrestle but University was able to blow the game open in the final term to record a convincing 30-point victory, 11.8 (74) to 6.8 (44).

Only one point separated the two teams at quarter-time. The tight battle continued with just three goals in total scored in a tight second quarter, University leading by five at the long change.

University took the ascendency in the last term, booting five goals to one and securing a week off to refresh for the big game.

Sean Trombetta was again impressive for University with four goals, while Marc Re battled hard to score three for Scarborough.

Meeting Scarborough in the preliminary final will be Fremantle CBC, who came out firing with a devastating first quarter to defeat North Fremantle by 53 points.

A six-goal opening term by CBC set the tone for the day and North Freo had no answer, finishing with just three goals for the day, two of them in the final quarter.

The 11.11 (77) to 3.6 (24) victory was a solid hit-out for CBC before this week’s preliminary final at Millington Reserve.

In B Grade, Nichols Gajewski kicked seven goals to see Collegians home by 35 points over West Coast to meet the powerful Curtin Uni Wesley side in this week’s grand final at Bassendean Oval. The Perth Footy Live team will cover this game on Saturday on Footy Radio and Community News Facebook pages.

In a special game with a large crowd at Pat Goodridge Reserve in Wembley, Coolbinia won its fifth consecutive premiership in the Integrated competition with a solid win over Willetton, 8.11 (59) to 3.3 (21).
