BUDDING young artists have been exhibiting their works at a local shopping centre.

Local students have showcased their artworks at Riverton Shopping Centre for the third year as part of its Youth Art Awards.

Stockland Riverton centre manager Phil Martin said the awards were a great opportunity for students to show the community their creativity, passion and skills.

“The teachers, students and our customers love to see what the kids come up with,” Mr Martin said.

“It really is impressive what they can do.”

Students were given the theme of Colour the Rainbow to guide their works.

Eight schools and community groups participated this year, with each receiving a $200 Stockland gift card for their school and another $200 worth of art supplies. The entries will be displayed in the centre until Sunday.

The centre has also been running school holiday activities under the theme, with face painting, slime making, scratch art and more, from 11am to 2pm, until Saturday.
