Lo­cals play a part in park makeover

LO­CAL res­i­dents have driven the makeover of a pop­u­lar Wil­let­ton park.

The City of Can­ning un­veiled improved fa­cil­i­ties at the park, which be­gan af­ter a re­quest from lo­cal Shiela Su.

Ms Su was keen to see the age­ing play­ground re­placed and a sur­vey to find out ex­actly what fa­cil­i­ties the com­mu­nity would like to see at­tracted more than 100 re­sponses. This in­cluded youth and adult ex­er­cise equip­ment, a dou­ble zip line, climb­ing net and wall, bal­ance beam and rope climber, as well as ad­di­tional ta­bles and benches with wheel­chair ac­ces­si­bil­ity.

“The City of Can­ning has done a great job in lis­ten­ing, the pro­ject was well man­aged and de­liv­ered on time,” Ms Su said.

“The new play equip­ment has been fan­tas­tic; it's such an im­prove­ment to the play­ground with heaps of kids there now.”

Can­ning Mayor Pa­trick Hall said it was fab­u­lous to see en­hance­ment of the park had al­ready re­sulted in a sig­nif­i­cant in­crease in its use.
