SOUTH Shore Swimming Club has made a splash ahead of a massive 2020.

The club dominated the 2019 South Metro Zone Championships swim meet at the Armadale Pool in November, tallying up 140 medals. The haul included 69 gold medals, with the next best club receiving 64 medals across gold, silver and bronze.

Ferndale resident Tristan Lin (11) won nine individual medals at the meet.

New president Irene Wright said the secret to the success was embracing the championships across the board.

“From our juniors to our elite swimmers, we tried to do our best,” she said.

After the Applecross and Melville swimming clubs joined to create South Shore Swimming Club in 2010, the club will blow out the candles for 10 successful years in 2020.

“We want to invest back into our swimmers and create opportunities for our elite swimmers as well as our juniors,” Ms Wright said.

“Next year will be a big year for swimming as Perth hosts the Age Swimming Championships in April and there’s also the Olympics later in the year.

“We’ll be hosting a gala dinner for the adults in November and a summer wind-up for the juniors in April.”
