Curtin call for new play­ers

CURTIN Univer­sity Foot­ball Club will hold tri­als this month as it pre­pares to take part in the in­au­gu­ral Na­tional Pre­mier League (NPL) WA women’s com­pe­ti­tion.

The com­pe­ti­tion, which was an­nounced late last year, will be­come Foot­ball West’s flag­ship com­pe­ti­tion for fe­male foot­ball.

Club vice pres­i­dent Payam Golestani said every­one in­volved was de­lighted with the in­vi­ta­tion to com­pete in the league.

“This high­lights our real com­mit­ment to fe­male par­tic­i­pa­tion in soc­cer as a club,” he said.

“It re­in­forces our be­lief in main­tain­ing our on­go­ing com­mit­ment to ju­nior fe­male de­vel­op­ment pro­gram com­pris­ing all girl play­ers as young as seven years of age.

“Last year, for the first time, we had a whole girls team in ju­nior age group com­pet­ing ad­mirably against the mainly boy teams.

“We have sev­eral ded­i­cated fe­male coaches in our club who play in state metro league and also coach the all girls teams.”
