AMANA LIVING TRAINING INSTITUTE
THANKS to an initiative from the State Government, a number of aged, home and community, allied health and disability care courses available from the Amana Living Training Institute (ALTI) are half price from January 1.
Lower Fees, Local Skills is a two-year program designed to make training more affordable in order to develop skills and employment opportunities in
WA’S priority industry areas.
“We know aged care employers are calling out for more staff with Certificate II and III qualifications; these significant fee reductions make training more affordable for students who are new to the sector but also for staff who want to upgrade their existing qualifications,” business manager Rathini Sonnadara said.
The Amana Living Graduate Program for Health Care Professionals has been launched by the not-for-profit care provider in response to the gap in training and career progression opportunities in the sector.
The 12-month program aims to nurture the next generation of aged care managers and leaders by developing clinical and leadership skills and providing new career pathways for nurses and allied health staff.
Participants will take part in clinical practice in an aged care environment, supported by experienced graduate mentors and onsite graduate buddies, and on-the-job training and coaching will be provided to the selected candidates.
“The program will help us to attract and retain nurses and allied health staff who want to work in aged care yet have been put off by the lack of practical training,” CEO Stephanie Buckland said.
“It will develop wellrounded clinicians who are capable of managing a large team of staff and running a nursing home effectively.”
The annual program is open to existing Amana Living staff and external applicants, with the first intake commencing training in February.
