Cel­e­bra­tions on the rise

RING in the Lu­nar New Year with a month of cel­e­bra­tions at South­lands Wil­let­ton.

To mark the be­gin­ning of the Year of the Rat on Jan­uary 25, the cen­tre has been dec­o­rated in red Chi­nese lanterns, fes­toon light­ing and good luck trees.

For many Aus­tralians with Asian back­grounds, the Lu­nar New Year is an im­por­tant oc­ca­sion of­ten cel­e­brated with fam­ily re­unions, feasts and bless­ings to fam­ily and friends.

Cen­tre man­ager Quentin Den­nis said Lu­nar New Year cel­e­bra­tions re­flected the cen­tre’s pride in be­ing part of this cul­tur­ally rich com­mu­nity.

Chung Wah will hold a tra­di­tional lion dance per­for­mance on Fe­bru­ary 5, from 12-1pm, with cel­e­bra­tions con­tin­u­ing un­til Fe­bru­ary 9. Visit www.south­lands.com.au.
