Concert for fire relief

Canning Gazette - - NEWS -

A CHARITY concert in Cannington on Saturday, February 8, will raise funds for bushfire relief and local fauna.

Hosted by Sofar Sounds, the event at the City’s Civic Amphitheatre will run from 1.30pm to 6pm.

Six local, established and emerging artists will perform a 25-minute set, with each band forgoing their usual fee.

Organiser and Sofar Sounds manager Paul Clegg said he was working with the City of Canning.

“Like many of us, seeing the news and watching the devastating effect the fires had and continue to have across the country, we wanted to do something,’’ he said.

“Sofar Sounds connects an incredible community of artists and local businesses who had similar feelings of helplessness and wanted to do their bit.”

Mr Clegg said 75 per cent of profits would go to The Australian Red Cross and 25 per cent to WA based not-for-profit charity FAWNA (Fostering and Assistance for Wildlife Needing Aid).

Donations will be accepted on the day or can be made directly to the nominated charities, with proof of donation to be provided on the day to gain entry.

To attend, you must register your interest atfar

Concert-goers can BYO picnics, rugs and chairs. There will also be two food trucks serving food and ice cream.
