Restaurant fined over food storage
THE Department of Health has fined a Malaysian eatery after the business failed to properly store food.
Beng Suan Lim was convicted on February 10 for breaches of the Food Act committed at Penang Hawker Food on Barbican Street in Shelley.
WA Health Department has fined the business $12,000 and $4000 for costs of the offences.
The offences were committed on March 28 and May 28 last year.
The business was convicted for failing to store food in such a way that it was protected from the likelihood of contamination and failing to store potentially hazardous food under temperature control.
Ms Lim’s daughter Ivy said her mum was working on improving everything in the kitchen to ensure everything was up to the standard of cleanliness.
“We’ll ensure something like this won’t happen again," she said.
“We’ve updated the rules and regulations and making sure the staff is on the same track.”
