Do you like green eggs and ham? Excelsior Primary School certainly do!

THERE was a flurry of excitement at Excelsior Primary School last week as students got set to perform their first ever musical to three sold-out audiences.

Students performed Seussical, The Musical Jr. at Canning Vale College on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night for the school’s annual Arts Night.

Based on the children’s stories by Dr Seuss, the show featured classic characters such as The Cat in the Hat and Horton the Elephant and other favourites performed by the 55 cast members.

Deputy principal Simone Hall said the musical had been a major focus of the school’s year, with auditions taking place back in term 1.

“Students and staff across the school have been teaching and learning choreography and attending rehearsals, as well as being involved with set designs, creating colourful costumes, vibrant sets and stage prop pieces, while learning about the wonderful world through the eyes of Dr Seuss,” she said.

In addition to the educational benefits, it showcased the students’ great talents, she said.
