CRICKET season is just round the corner and Willetton District Cricket Club is about to celebrate a major milestone. After starting life as the West Perth Cricket Club in 1889, a foundation member of the WA Cricket Association, the club moved to Willetton in 1984. This season will mark the 130th anniversary of the West Perth Cricket Club and the 25th anniversary of its move to the Willetton area. Willetton came close to glory last season when it finished second in the premier grade, missing out on top spot despite having the same number of points as Claremont-Nedlands. Led by captain and Australian test opener Cam Bancroft, the Dragons will be hopeful of going one better after losing to Melville in last year’s semifinals.
