All change at leisure centre

Canning Times - - NEWS -

RIVERTON Leisureplex will undergo a facelift as City of Canning plans to turn the area into a community hub.

Hot on the heels of the library refurbishment, the redevelopments at the neighbouring leisureplex will see Tumblers Kids Gym close permanently from December 1.

The kids’ gym will be replaced with a cycle studio, training areas and revamped with new flooring, gym equipment and music system.

Additional group fitness options such as spin classes, freestyle classes, functional training programs and kids’ fitness classes will also become available.

Canning Mayor Paul Ng said the kids’ gym closure came about after a strategic review.

“Over time and with the establishment of other similar privately-owned children’s entertainment venues, visitation to Tumblers Kids Gym has significantly declined, so the City has taken the opportunity to look at how this space can best benefit the community,” he said.

Mr Ng said the City had allocated funding for the design of a nature playground in the area between the leisureplex and library.

The meeting rooms at the leisureplex will be converted into spaces for health-related businesses to lease. Stage one begins in December.
