Renew registrations for four-legged friends

Canning Times - - NEWS -

THE City of Canning is preparing to roll out this year’s wave of animal registration renewals.

All pet owners must ensure dogs aged over three months and cats over six months are registered with the City and re-registered each year.

This year’s animal registration renewals will be sent out in October.

Canning Mayor Paul Ng said pet registration was important.

“Registering your pet has many benefits. Most importantly, if your cat or dog is lost and is wearing its registration tag it will be easily identified and reunited with you and your family. Pet registration is part of responsible cat or dog ownership and it is in the best interest of the community to ensure registrations are up-to-date,” he said.

The City of Canning has reiterated it will take action if these laws are not followed and serious penalties apply.

It also advised residents to keep up-to-date with specific laws and requirements around ownership and registration of dangerous and restricted dog breeds.
