Abo­rig­i­nal soul duo lead show

THIS year’s Can­ning Show will fin­ish on Satur­day night with a big­ger and bet­ter Live at the Can­ning Show con­cert, head­lined by Mel­bourne act the Merindas.

The Aus­tralian Abo­rig­i­nal con­tem­po­rary soul duo will hit the stage just af­ter 8pm and fol­low­ing per­for­mances by the Bam­buseae Rhythm Sec­tion and Adam Hall and the Vel­vet Play­boys.

Fri­day night show­go­ers can watch a per­for­mance by ZAP Cir­cus and at 9pm, the tra­di­tional fire­works dis­play.

The Show­time Tal­ent Quest will be a high­light on Satur­day, with lo­cal artists earn­ing the right to per­form through ear­lier au­di­tions.

Can­ning Show spokes­woman Hi­lary Cal­laghan said the show would have some­thing for all ages, with demon­stra­tions, com­mu­nity dis­plays and all the fun of sideshow alley rides, at­trac­tions and show­bags.

The theme of this year’s show is lo­cal and ru­ral emer­gency ser­vices and there will be dis­plays from the Royal Fly­ing Doc­tor Ser­vice, as well as an an­tique fire truck of­fer­ing rides.

Tick­ets for ei­ther Fri­day or Satur­day are $11 for adults and free for chil­dren un­der 16.
